Margolis Consulting Group, LLC exists as a technical contributor to medium and large-scale projects where results are expected quickly and within budget.  We know that success of any project requires a set of milestones that include the presentation of work-in-progress items throughout the development effort.  Often prototypes screens are ready for review within 24 hours of a facilitation session. These meetings allow us to gather business requirements from our clients in an informal, structured, and moderated setting.  This allows us to identify and gain acceptance on critical business and usability issues early in the process.  In summary, we are focused on delivering world-class technical solutions.

Our Perception

There is a perceived change in the economy, which has slowed the flow of venture capital into the IT industry.  This trend is adding momentum to the positive perception of the traditional “Brick and Mortar” entities that have established business processes and strategies; yet who identify the need for change to keep pace with industry changes and to remain competitive.  These firms will look to strengthen their existing IT infrastructure, and make endeavors into newer technologies that will enable them to reduce the cost associated with bringing products or services to market..  Some of these technologies will focus on Content Management tools, WorkFlow engines, Complex Data Sharing and Syndication agreements, and Wireless Access.  These areas will allow these entities to improve their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) capabilities.  The ability to deliver products and services efficiently and consistently to market will be paramount to survival in ones market place.

Company Background & Structure

Margolis Consulting Group, LLC is a privately held Limited Liability Company based in Boston Massachusetts. The company founders, Scott L. Margolis and Mahnaz Z. Tabatabaee, have extensive experience delivering technical solutions to the Insurance, Petrol-Chemical, Litigation Support, Publishing, Government Compliance, and Financial Services industries.  Some of these systems include high volume document management & workflow systems, secure intranets, and database solutions for large-scale web portal environments involving complex syndication requirements.  In order to effectively deliver our services, we have created two distinct practices – Professional Services and World Services.  Professional Services is tasked with delivering technical solutions to mid-sized and large organizations.  Services include the full life cycle of systems design, development, and deployment for both web based and traditional client/server solutions.  World Services will focus on providing international business consulting services beginning in 2002.  This practice will assist clients in delivering products and services to the emerging Asian and Middle East markets.

Professional Services

Our co-founder and Managing Partner, Scott L. Margolis manages this practice.  His background is considerably technical; however he possesses a comprehensive knowledge of business process analysis and reengineering.  Scott holds an MBA with emphasis in Information Systems and a BA degree in Computer Science from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.  He has had the opportunity to spend a number of years designing and developing document management and workflow systems for the petrol-chemical, financial services, and litigation support industries.  This exposure has led Scott to focus on flexible table-driven architectures for solutions in the Publishing industry with respect to content management, database architecture & implementation, and data syndication.

This practice delivers web and traditional n-tier client/server solutions using primarily Microsoft tools and technologies.  Databases are commonly developed in Microsoft’s robust and scalable SQL Server product.  Web solutions use Active Server Pages (ASP) with Visual Basic COM objects for the business and data layers where applicable.  Currently the practice is investigating the new .Net NWGS platform of development products recently released as Beta by Microsoft.  Migration towards the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 product is also underway; yet SQL Server 7.0 is still the main candidate for current projects unless otherwise requested.

Practitioners have extensive background implementing enterprise solutions such as Onyx Customer Center, FileNet Imaging & WorkFlow, and Microsoft’s InterPress Content Management system.  This skill requires consultants to possess the ability to coordinate and moderate facilitation sessions from prominent clients in order to gather and correlate business processes and requirements.  Expertise in these areas allows us to accurately scope projects and provide solid timelines and reduced pricing strategies.

In summary, the core competency of this practice involves database architecture & implementation (import, cleansing, and reporting), Website development & deployment, and development and maintenance of traditional n-tier client/server solutions.

World Services

Our co-founder and Managing Partner, Mahnaz Z. Tabatabaee is currently developing this practice.  She has a diverse background and speaks fluent Japanese and Persian.  Mahnaz has spent a number of years in both the Middle East and Asia and is experienced in the cultural and commerce aspects of these regions.  Presently Mahnaz assists the Professional Services practice by providing strategic business services.
